Ahhhh…culture. The very thing that makes our planet so interesting. As a polyglot (someone who speaks multiple languages – for me, it’s 6) I am fascinated with culture. One of the reasons I will learn a new language might be entirely out of appreciation for that specific culture.
In Jinbocho, Tokyo, you’ll find cramped used bookstores that sell 17th century text about Samurai culture, taboo novels in which the narrator is the devil, or classic 80s movie posters with Japanese text.
This is one of the most well-preserved district in Kyoto. Fully dressed Geishas wander the streets and are very interesting and beautiful to behold but, please, don’t make them uncomfortable my shoving your camera in their face.
