It’s been three months since my last trip to Japan. It’s funny because, when I got back, I realized that that was my favorite trip that I’ve ever been on. And I’ve been on many. Although I had traveled a lot before, this time I went to an entirely new part of the world, got paid for the whole thing with work vacation days that I’d been saving up, and it turned out wonderfully.
Except for a short weekend in San Francisco in January, and a more thorough exploration of my own city, that’s the last time I traveled. Since then, it’s been the nine-to-five, day in and day out, waiting till 5 pm so I can go home and watch tv. Repeat.
Thankfully, yesterday was my last day at work (although I typically enjoyed my job.) After a year and a half there, and advancing as much as I could, I will be moving to Los Angeles. This has been in the making for quite some time now.
As much as I’d like to go and ride the Trans-Siberian Railway or go on the Rickshaw Run, I have to prioritize going to Los Angeles and furthering my career. Don’t get my wrong, I am very excited to do that and it’s something that I absolutely want to do right now. But the world is always going to be there (unless we get smashed by a comet or Coronavirus morphs and kills us all) so it can wait.
In order to prompt my memories of travel (which will be giving my daily dose of adventure) I like to go back and look at photos from my trips. Even though 2019 wasn’t a peak travel year for me, there were definitely some cool new adventures.
After much thought, I’ve decided that these are my ten favorite photos from 2019. They are in no particular order.
Are you inspired now?
